EFT thanks – last chance to submit (via Erica)

Published: Tuesday July 22, 2025

Green footprintsA big thank you to all the churches in our diocese who have completed their Energy Footprint Tool (EFT) this year. We are pleased to announce that 41% of churches in our diocese have taken part – this is more than last year and is a significant contribution to the bigger national effort of the Church of England in becoming Net Zero Carbon by 2030.

Erica Siddall, Net Zero Carbon Project Manager, said: “So many churches made great effort to fill in the questions in detail, which is so encouraging. Thank you to those who filled it in, for taking the time out of your busy lives to do this in such a constructive manner.”

The data gathered through the EFT gives both the diocese and the Church of England a clearer understanding of each church’s energy use, fuel types, and carbon footprint. It helps us to provide the right support to churches as they transition away from fossil fuels such as oil and gas.

If you have not yet sent over your EFT report for your church, there is still time – please download the forms below and send them as email attachments to Erica Siddall by Tuesday 29 July; diocesan access ends shortly after that date.

There is an increasing range of support packages and grant funding available from the national team, but these can only be directed to churches where fuel type and energy usage is known.

Our diocese currently has one of the lowest response rates of all the dioceses in the country – but this doesn’t reflect how engaged most people are on this subject. It would be great to see more churches who have completed the EFT join us in strengthening our collective response as a diocese.

Filling in the EFT and submitting your report to us is a way of caring for God’s creation, an act of faith and stewardship, and a response to climate change.
