Vocations Sunday

Who am I?
How can I best serve God?
What is God calling me to do?
What's my part in the body of Christ?
How should I serve God in the world?

These are questions many Christians ask themselves from time to time. If you have a
sense that the Holy Spirit is nudging you to explore new ways of serving God in the church and the world then there are resources in the diocese and beyond to help you in the adventure of discerning your vocation.

Christ calls us to 'follow him, to be part of his body, the Church, and to serve and make God known, wherever we find ourselves'. All Christians are ministers and missionaries, called to live out their baptism promises through service and witness in the church and in the world.

A message from The Revd Catherine Williams,
Vocations Officer

Dear Friends in Christ,
Today, on this Trinity Sunday, the Christian church is meeting throughout the world to celebrate the majesty and mystery of God revealed as three in one - Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

In the Diocese of Gloucester we are asking you to consider your vocation today. As churches we are called to work together, reflecting the image of God we bear so that our communities may come to know and respond to the living God, who is real and active amongst them as creator, redeemer and sanctifier.

Jesus Christ calls each one of us to witness to his saving love and power. As the body of Christ you are called as a church to work together to make God's love known throughout your community. This is your calling - be worthy of it!

Jesus said: "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations"
