Human Resources

What is HR?

HR is the ‘organisational function’ that deals with people. Supporting and developing managers, dealing with ‘people issues’ across the breadth of an employment relationship – from recruitment and selection, training, concerns and issues, legal compliance, and best practice.

About HR in the Diocese

The key role for Human Resources for parishes is that we are here to support churches and PCCs in their responsibilities for employees and volunteers. This can include anything from recruitment, data protection, employment advice and guidance, to employee relations and employment laws.

Together, Judith Knight and Alice Clark support our churches and PCCs with their employment related issues. These can include template policies, contracts, and general advice and guidance. Popular questions include issues such as: pensions, redundancy, payroll, data protection, health and safety, disciplinary, competency, sickness absence.

Payroll

We are in the process of being able to offer PCCs the option of using the central diocesan offices to run any payroll you may have, free of charge, from early 2018.  This will be of real benefit where PCCs would like to outsource their PAYE, NI, pensions and so on.  We are in the pilot stage for the next couple of months to make sure we have the right systems in place to issue payslips and recover the PCCs’ salary costs.  If you are interested please call or get in touch with us to find out more.
